The once famed Casa Mar lodge ruled this untouched world class Tarpon fishery near the northeastern border. The resurgence in interest to hunt this prehistoric species has brought the area back to life! Although the accommodations are remote, only accessible by boat and located just minutes from the river mouth where the tarpon swim in excess -the cuisine is to die for! Due to their limited migration routes and plentiful food sources, these waters hold some of the largest and strongest Tarpon the world has to offer! There are also freshwater opportunities in backwater lagoons containing many exotic species only found in Central America. Other than fishing and bird watching, there aren’t many additional activities given the limited access to this unspoiled, remote location.
